GPE KIX Africa 19 Hub is launching a year-long online course and community of practice (CoP) in Teacher Education Reform in Africa.

This is a partnership between UNESCO IICBA, GPE KIX, the European Union’s Regional Teachers Initiative for Africa (EU-RTIA), the Shanghai Funds-in-Trust, the Africa Federation of Teaching Regulatory Authorities (AFTRA), and the African Union.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Strengthen their understanding of effective teacher education policies, practices, curricula, and programs.
  • Join a virtual learning community of regional experts and practitioners.
  • Research and present on good practices from their own countries at sessions.
  • Apply their learning by creating an action plan for their own departments and organizations.
  • Contribute towards a regional framework to guide teacher education in the region.

This course and CoP will start with 10 virtual workshops every two weeks, primarily on pre-service teacher education from July to December 2025, followed by additional workshops primarily on in-service teacher education from March to August 2026.

Please note that the workshops will be conducted in English (a French iteration will follow later).

This opportunity is open to a limited number of national representatives from:
