Nesmy Manigat, born in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti, is an economist, technocrat, and education expert recognized for his more than 20 years of international experience in the education sector. He twice served as Haiti’s Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, from April 2014 to March 2016, and again from November 2021 to June 2024.
On the international stage, he has held significant responsibilities, including serving as Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean at the NGO Aide et Action (now Action Éducation). Since 2015, he has also been actively engaged with the Global Partnership for Education, where he was elected in 2024 as Chair of the Finance and Risk Committee, after previously serving as Chair of the Governance and Ethics Committee.
He holds a business management degree from the State University of Haiti and a master’s degree from the University of Québec at Chicoutimi. He has taught entrepreneurship in Haiti and in several other countries, led university departments, and contributed to education reform and institutional strengthening projects in various contexts. His career, punctuated by two ministerial terms, reflects his enduring commitment to transforming Haiti’s education system and to strengthening governance and education financing at the international level.
